Board Bio
Mr. Cooper founded his New Orleans-based career business in 1994. Mr. Cooper is a Certified Advanced Resume Writer (CARW), Career Coach, LinkedIn Profile Writer, Business Plan Writer, and active member of several career industry associations. Grant won the Career Directors International "President's Award" in 2015.
In 1995, Mr. Cooper's firm landed a groundbreaking nationwide contract to provide custom resume writing services under his "Strategic Resumes" brand at 350+ Kinko's locations from coast to coast, employing 25+ writers and staff. Mr. Cooper and his team successfully managed that contract until FedEx acquired Kinko's in the early 2000s.
In 2002, Mr. Cooper authored and marketed a first of its kind, Windows-based standalone software program, "Resume Critique Writer," that was purchased and used by 4-year universities, community colleges, U.S. military career centers, recruiters, career coaches, and resume writing professionals throughout the U.S. & overseas. Mr. Cooper is a consultant to recruiters, media reporters, corporations, nonprofits, and athletic programs.
Mr. Cooper also prepares business plans that result in private investor, bank, and SBA funding. Strategic Resumes has landed contracts and engagements with the U.S. Air Force, Kinko's, the Louisiana Dept. of Labor, the City of New Orleans, the American Red Cross, Job1, American Express, NFL & NBA, as well as area universities, banks, hospitals, nonprofits, government agencies, and corporations.
Grant has attended more than 20 national conferences, has presented workshops at several national conferences, and has served as a judge for CDI's Tori Awards for 10 consecutive years. He is former president of his neighborhood association, was named to New Orleans Saints Advisory Board (5-year term), and is a proud Louisiana State University alumni.
Grant lives in New Orleans with his wife, Kris (university executive), and has three adult children (Scientist, Regional Manager, Doctor), three grandchildren, and two dogs.
