About the NRWA
The NRWA is the only nonprofit, member-driven resume writers’ organization in the world. The mission of the NRWA is to increase the visibility of the industry, encourage ethical practices, promote excellence, and raise industry standards through peer marketing and training. Since 1998, representatives of the NRWA have hosted an annual conference to bring industry professionals together to learn, gain inspiration, and build a sense of community for our members.

The NRWA’s Certification Commission awards the highly sought-after Nationally Certified Resume Writer (NCRW) credential to resume writers who demonstrate basic resume knowledge, writing, and strategy. Through the efforts of the volunteer Certification Commission the program certifies the best resume writers in the industry.

The National Résumé Writers’ Association is seeking engaging presenters for our
upcoming virtual spring summit taking place on April 14 and 15.

CALL FOR SPEAKERS

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Tuesday, December 1, 2026, 11:59 p.m. ET

We are looking for sessions that give resume writers and career-services professionals practical ideas, fresh perspectives, and tools they can implement with clients and in their own businesses. Ideally, sessions will include content oriented toward writing career documents and serving job seekers.

This year’s theme, Purposeful Guidance in Uncertain Times, will focus on Career Strategies That Help Job Seekers Navigate the New Job Market.

Sessions will be 60 minutes and presented virtually via Zoom.

This is a paid speaking opportunity.

We welcome proposals from career-services professionals, recruiters, hiring leaders, business experts, technology professionals, and others who can bring relevant insight to the NRWA community.

We will be considering general session and sessions that may be included in breakout tracks:

      • Track A: Foundational/Emerging - For newer writers, institutional staff, and members seeking hands-on basics.
      • Track B: Advanced - For experienced writers, NCRWs, and members who want deeper strategy.

What We’re Looking For

Strong proposals should be educational rather than promotional and offer clear takeaways attendees can use after the session.

Possible topics may include:

1. The Changing Job Market

  • How the market is shifting and what career professionals need to understand
  • Emerging industries and roles, including AI, data centers, and jobs that did not exist a generation ago
  • Startup environments versus established corporations
  • Boomerang hiring and other changing employment patterns
  • How employer needs are evolving

2. Seeing the Market Through the Job Seeker’s Eyes

  • What it feels like to navigate an uncertain market
  • Helping clients understand what matters and what is noise
  • Bringing empathy into the process without losing strategy
  • Moving beyond the same old job-search advice
  • Helping clients make decisions when the path is not obvious

3. Transferable Skills and Career Pivots

  • Identifying transferable skills that are real, relevant, and defensible
  • Connecting those skills to employer demand
  • Using labor-market data to support positioning
  • Translating experience from one industry or function to another
  • Writing for clients pursuing newer fields such as AI, data-center operations, or emerging technical roles

4. Understanding the Target

  • Learning what the industry actually needs before writing
  • Translating job descriptions into business problems
  • Understanding the scope and level of the target role
  • Connecting experience to revenue, growth, cost, risk, or operational impact
  • Showing that the candidate can perform at the required level, not just match keywords

5. Better Discovery and Intake

  • Asking stronger questions during the client interview
  • Using AI to uncover accomplishments, transferable skills, and missing context
  • Determining what questions change based on the target role or industry
  • Separating useful AI assistance from generic output

6. Resume and LinkedIn Strategy for a Changing Market

  • Writing resumes for emerging roles and industries
  • Positioning candidates for jobs they have never held before
  • LinkedIn visibility and how recruiters are finding candidates
  • What current LinkedIn data and surveys can tell us
  • Making the resume and LinkedIn profile work together
