Obtaining CEs for the NCRW Certification & Recertification

Requirements

Have your CEs officially recorded by sending an e-mail and documentation to the CE Admin Manager.

  • Non-NCRWs: Ten CEs in the three years prior to taking the Exam.
  • NCRWs: Fifteen CEs every three years to maintain certification.

IMPORTANT: Please maintain your own personal CE file so that any record-keeping discrepancies can be quickly resolved.

Non-NCRWs (Members who have not acquired the NCRW certification)

The NCRW Sample Submission "Ready" Recommendation: One CE for each "ready" recommendation received from an NCRW grader (maximum of two CEs).

Published Books:

Up to ten CEs for books on resumes and cover letters published through a major publishing company (cannot be self-published). To get credit for the CEs, you must submit a copy of the book to the Certification Chair. If you have a self-published book or an electronic book it has to be submitted to the Certification Chair for determination of CEs. No more than three CEs will be given for self-published books. A web site is not considered a self-published book.

Conference Presentation Delivery (Resume Writing, Cover Letter Writing, and CV Topics):
  • Featured presenters at The NRWA conferences will receive two CEs for each presentation. Presenters must turn in all of their materials/handouts prior to the conference for review by the Certification Commission.
  • Featured presenters at non-NRWA conferences to an audience of industry (career services) professionals will receive two CEs for each presentation – up to a maximum of ten CEs in three years. Presenters must submit proof of making the presentation and the title along with the amount of time for the presentation.
A featured presenter is classified as an individual who has prepared a specific presentation
on some facet of resume and cover letter writing – not someone who sits on a panel.

The NRWA’s Online Training Program:
Two CEs for every completed and passed segment of the online training program.

The NRWA Conference: Ten CEs per conference (must register for entire conference and only the most recent three conferences apply).

The NRWA Teleseminars/Webinars: One CE for each teleseminar you attend that is focused on resume writing (designated with an asterisk in the title).

The NRWA Teleseminar Delivery: Two CEs for every teleseminar you conduct/teach on a resume and cover letter writing topic (must include handouts).

Non-NRWA Conferences/Workshops: If you attend non-NRWA conferences and workshops you may qualify for CEs. You will need to submit proof of attendance, the title of the presentation(s) you want the CE(s) for and the clock hours for the presentation(s).

Business Writing / Written Communications Classes: You will receive one CE for every credit earned within a three-year period. You must pass the class and submit copy of transcript.

If the class was taken as part of your bachelors' or masters' degree program the same requirements apply.

Book Reviews: Two CEs for every book review up to a maximum of six CEs. To get credit, you must submit a two-page summary of the book and include an overview that describes its compliance or non-compliance with The NRWA Study Guide. Indicate whether you would recommend this book for the approved book list and why. (Note: Books need to have been published within the past 5 years.)
